Union & Association Hotel Discounts 2026: Codes by Body

Hotel Booking Tips & Guides
Last reviewed: August 2026

The deepest chain codes we have sourced come from a teachers’ union. Plus why an agency platform advertising 50% off may be worth less.

Every hotel brand union and professional association discounts

6 brands · a code is required · each figure from that chain’s own page, linked per row

How to claim: use the corporate code your union or association publishes, on the chain's own site, and carry your membership card. Codes belong to the body that negotiated them, so read the eligibility wording it published.

Union and association hotel benefits split into two things that look alike and behave very differently. Knowing which one you have decides whether you get a real chain rate or an agency booking.

Route one: a corporate code the body negotiated with a chain. You book on the hotel's own site, you earn loyalty points, cancellation follows the chain's rules. These are the codes in the table above.

Route two: an agency platform. Most unions send members to Union Plus, which books through Priceline and advertises up to 50% off across a million properties. The headline number is bigger. It is also a different product: agency bookings generally do not earn hotel loyalty points, and the cancellation terms are the platform's rather than the chain's.

Neither is wrong. But a member who sees "up to 50%" and assumes it beats a 20% chain rate is comparing two different things.

The Deepest Chain Codes We Have Found Anywhere

The American Federation of Teachers publishes two, and they are the strongest figures on this site:

Wyndham, 20% off the best available rate at over 9,000 participating hotels worldwide. That is double AARP's 10% and above every military rate we could source. AFT lists the covered brands as Days Inn, Super 8, Ramada, Wyndham, Microtel, Hawthorn Suites, LaQuinta, Wyndham Garden, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, AmericInn and Wyndham Grand.

Hilton, 12% chain-wide at all global Hilton hotels, covering Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Conrad, Waldorf, Embassy Suites, DoubleTree, Homewood Suites and Hampton. That beats AAA's "up to 10%" at the same chain.

One caveat we are flagging rather than hiding: the Hilton code AFT publishes contains 2025 in it and is still on their page in 2026. Union codes of that shape are often rotated annually. It may still work, it may have a 2026 successor, and we have marked it for checking rather than presenting it as settled.

Professional Associations: Real, But Usually One City

Bar associations turn out to be a reliable source of published codes, and we have collected from three so far. The pattern differs from the union codes:

  • Louisiana State Bar publishes the most, and two of its codes recur across a chain's Louisiana properties rather than a single hotel: an IHG code listed under Holiday Inn, and a Marriott-family code that appears at the New Orleans Marriott, the Ritz-Carlton and the Renaissance Baton Rouge
  • State Bar of Georgia publishes three, each tied to one Atlanta hotel
  • The Florida Bar reportedly publishes a chain-wide Wyndham code at 20%, which we have not confirmed, for a reason given in the sourcing note below
  • So association codes skew local. A bar association negotiates where its members actually meet, which is its own state. Useful if you are travelling there, irrelevant otherwise.

Where This Sits Against Everything Else

For a member of a union or a professional body, on personal travel:

  • Union chain code: up to 20% at Wyndham, 12% at Hilton, earns points, needs membership
  • AAA or CAA: 5–10% at Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Choice
  • AARP: 5–10% across 62 midscale and economy brands
  • Military rate: 5–15%, leisure only, ID checked
  • Union Plus and similar platforms: higher headline, agency booking, usually no points
  • Advance purchase: often lowest of all, non-refundable
  • The AFT Wyndham code at 20% is the deepest single published figure in any of these programmes. If you hold a union membership that gives you access to something similar, it is worth checking before defaulting to AAA or AARP.

How to Find What Your Own Body Publishes

The bodies that publish codes do it on a member benefits page, not a public marketing page.

  • Search your union or association site for "member benefits" and then travel or hotels
  • Try site:yourunion.org "member benefits" hotel on a search engine
  • If the page routes you to Union Plus or a similar platform, that is route two: compare its price against the chain's own member rate rather than assuming
  • If it publishes a corporate code, note the eligibility wording. The code belongs to that body and the chain can ask what your basis for using it is
  • Frequently Asked Questions

Which union gives the best hotel discount?

Of what we have sourced, the American Federation of Teachers, at 20% off Wyndham's best available rate and 12% chain-wide at Hilton. Both are published on AFT's own member benefits page.

Is Union Plus better than a chain corporate code?

It depends what you are optimising for. Union Plus advertises up to 50% off, but it books as an agency through Priceline, so you generally do not earn hotel points and the cancellation terms are the platform's. A 20% chain rate that earns points and cancels freely can be worth more than a 35% agency rate that does neither.

Do bar association codes work outside that state?

Mostly no. Georgia's three codes are each tied to one Atlanta hotel. Louisiana's are broader but its page still lists Louisiana properties. Treat them as local unless the body says otherwise.

Can I use a union code if I am not a member?

No. The code belongs to the body that negotiated it, and the chain can ask for the membership. This is the same risk as any employer code: the stay gets repriced at the desk.

Why does a code have a year in it?

Because some are rotated annually. AFT's Hilton code contains 2025, which is exactly why we have flagged it for checking rather than presenting it as current.

Do these codes earn loyalty points?

Chain corporate codes booked on the chain's own site normally do. Agency platform bookings normally do not, which is the main hidden cost of the bigger headline number.

    Sourcing

The AFT figures and codes are quoted from AFT's own member benefits page. The Georgia and Louisiana bar association codes come from those associations' own member pages, each linked in the table.

Three things we deliberately did not use, which is worth stating because it is the difference between this table and the ones you will find elsewhere:

  • The Florida Bar's Wyndham code. floridabar.org disallows automated access in its robots.txt, so we did not fetch it. The code is recorded in our review queue as unconfirmed, from a search result rather than from the page, and will not appear here until someone opens the page and checks it.
  • A nurses association code circulating with a specific percentage. The association's own site also disallows automated access, and the figures being quoted trace back to aggregator sites rather than to the association. We would rather have nothing than a number we cannot attribute.
  • Aggregator sites on .org domains. Several turned up in the same searches. A .org suffix is not a credential, and a page that collects other people's codes is not the body that issued them.
  • Every code above is recorded as not independently verified: we have confirmed the issuing body published it, not that it prices out at a booking engine today. Terms change without notice.
